In Kenya, however, it's not unusual for people to ignore traffic lights, especially when they're not working as they should. But these signals are there to keep everyone safe—drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and more.
It's important to understand both traffic lights and police signals. Here's a quick guide:
Traffic Lights:
- Red: Stop and wait behind the stop line.
- Red and Amber: Stop, do not move until the green light appears.
- Amber: Stop unless you're already too far past the stop line.
- Green: Proceed if safe; a green arrow indicates you can move in the direction shown.
Police Signals:
- Arm straight up: Stop for vehicles approaching from the front.
- Arm straight out to the side: Stop for vehicles approaching from behind.
- Hands both up or to the side: Stop for vehicles from both front and behind.
- Nudging forward, arm low: Move forward for vehicles from behind.
- Nudging forward, arm high: Move forward for vehicles from the front.
- Nudging forward, arm high sideways: Move forward for vehicles from the side.

Cancer is a disease characterized by uncontrolled cell growth that can spread to other parts of the body. It can start anywhere in the body, disrupting the normal process of cell division and leading to the formation of tumors. These tumors can be cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign). Malignant tumors invade nearby tissues and can metastasize to other parts of the body, while benign tumors do not spread.
There are over 100 types of cancer, with common types in children including leukemia, lymphomas, brain tumors, retinoblastoma, bone cancers, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, and rhabdomyosarcoma. Treatment depends on the type, location, and spread of the cancer, and usually involves a multidisciplinary team of doctors. Early detection and intervention are crucial for effective management.

👁️ Understanding Visual Impairment 👁️
Ever wondered what it's like to have trouble seeing? Visual impairment means having difficulty seeing clearly, whether not seeing at all or having partial vision loss. Some people are completely blind, while others have legal blindness. This means they've lost some vision but not all.
Our eyes work like cameras, collecting and focusing light to create images. The retina, at the back of the eye, plays a crucial role in this process. It turns light into nerve signals, sending them to the brain via the optic nerve.
Sometimes, parts of the eye or brain get damaged, leading to severe or total vision loss. While glasses or contacts can help with some vision problems, they can't fix everything. That's why it's important to take care of our eyes and appreciate the gift of sight!
