“They [adolescents] now seem to love luxury, they have bad manners and contempt for authority, they show disrespect for adults and spend their time hanging around places gossiping with one another. They are ready to contradict their parents, monopolize the conversation and company, eat gluttonously and tyrannize their teachers….”
—Socrates about 400 B.C.

You are not alone. All the good stuff lies ahead. One in three teens has considered suicide. Suicide is the number one killer of our youth 12-19 years.

All people have a need for love, significance and security. More so teenagers as they find themselves during the transition period and try to keep their head above water and their mind level-headed.

As the parent or caregiver, notice and express gratitude for good things, give back to the community by volunteering of helping others and being kind and most importantly, laugh. Humor improves mental and physical health and increases hope.
