Who we are
Thriving Teens Foundation (“we”, “us”) is a non-profit organisation based at KMA Apartments, Chyulu Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi, Kenya. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website. Contact: info@thrivingteensfoundation.org · +254 746 629 388.
What we collect
- Information you give us — for example your name, email, phone number, organisation and message when you contact us, subscribe, apply to volunteer, request a programme or pledge a donation.
- Questions from young people — the Teen Hub question box asks only for the question. Please do not include identifying details.
- Technical information — our web host may record standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To respond to enquiries and requests
- To send updates you have subscribed to (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To process and acknowledge donations
- To recruit and vet volunteers and mentors, including safeguarding checks
- To improve our programmes, content and services
- To meet our legal obligations
Lawful basis
We process personal data on the basis of your consent, our legitimate interests in running and improving our charitable activities, the performance of an agreement with you, and compliance with legal obligations — as provided under the Data Protection Act, 2019.
Children and young people
We take special care with information about children. We do not knowingly collect identifying information from children through this website without appropriate consent. Where our programmes collect information from under-18s (for example registration or evaluation forms), we seek consent from a parent or guardian and the young person’s assent, and we collect only what is necessary.
Sharing your information
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate (such as email or hosting providers) under confidentiality obligations, with partners where you have agreed, or where required by law — including to protect a child from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law, and then delete or anonymise it securely.
Keeping it secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Your data protection rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to be informed about how your data is used; to access your personal data; to object to processing; to correct false or misleading data; and to request deletion of false or misleading data. To exercise these rights, email info@thrivingteensfoundation.org. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), Kenya.
